Quiet Memories (open) « Thread Started on Apr 29, 2008, 9:29pm »
((Alright, it says open... but if you have no clue who James is at all... don't bother))
He sat in his room staring at the clock. He'd been holed up there since just before midnight, and now it was three o'clock in the afternoon. Just staring at the clock. He hadn't slept, he hadn't eaten... just sat and stared. Once or twice someone had stopped to knock on his door, but he'd ignored it.
It probably was just the wrong room anyway.
He'd been like this for years... even days where he'd had school on his birthday. He'd just sit there, from midnight to midnight, staring at the clock. In his mind, nothing bad could happen to someone because of him, if he didn't go anywhere. It was a theory that had proven correct so far, but he hadn't left either so he had nothing to compare it against. Except for his bad memories... from so long ago....
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear James, happy birthday to you! Make a wish James," his mother had said. They'd just finished the song as someone began banging on the door to the apartment. "I'll be right back. You think about what you want to wish for," she said, before walking over to the door.
He was just thinking on a wish when he heard a loud voice say, "I'll come here anytime I damn well please!" James got up and peeked around the corner, seeing his mother's boyfriend."
James got up and walked over to the cake, blowing out the candles and thinking, I wish he would go away forever....
"Please, not today, it's James..." his mother pleaded.
Rather than a spoken response, there was a loud slapping noise as he hit her.
"Stop it! Don't hit mommy!" the seven year old James cried, running over and tried to hit him.
"No, don't...!" his mother cried, but it was to late.
Her boyfriend, rage and drunkedness in his eyes, turned around and kicked James, "You little brat!" he spat. He started kicking him while he was on the ground. It continued for the next ten minutes, stopping only to hit his mother when she tried to stop him.
Make him stop... he'd thought, Please make him stop. His tears were mixing with his blood on the floor as he cried and the beating continued.
Suddenly, a surge of white energy shot out around him, sending the man crashing through the wall. The force field faded after a moment and his mother rushed over to him, "It's alright James. I'll get you to the hospital...."
James shook himself out of the daydream and looked back at the clock. Only 4 o'clock. Still several hours left. Anyone who'd looked at his file could have learned about the incident... his mother'd told them about it because it'd been the first time his powers had appeared. She probably wouldn't have normally, but they asked her to go into great detail about it.
Just hurry up and end already... he thought, seemingly pleading with time itself.

Knock before you enter a room... People had been getting on her case about her just leaping in through their window. But although she understood their words, Ivory didn't necessarily pay attention to them all the time. Hyperactive and full of catnip that someone had fed her as a prank and to drive Collin nuts, the feral mutant scaled the wall- her claws gripping amazingly good for not being amplified in any way. She had been doing this all day... almost literally running up the walls as bursts of energy caused her to just need something to do.
This time though, there was a window in her way which she neither stopped at or avoided. With a mini-roar, Ivory dove into the room as there was no glass stopping her. She only realized too late that there had been a screen in the way.... Well, not anymore. Now, she was playing with the broken screen on the floor, almost oblivious of the other person in the room.

He heard a faint skittering up the walls, but didn't know what it was. He'd been hearing something similar to it dimly all day... and he was about to find out just what it was. Much to his dismay. When you want to be left alone, one of the things you don't want is a visitor. Especially a high visitor. Especially a high visitor breaking through his window. Especially a naked, high visitor breaking through his window.
Why did I leave the window open... he thought, as Ivory burst into the room. He didn't really flinch, but he did notice her. He kept staring at his clock, trying very hard not to look over at her. He had a reputation as a reclusive weirdo punching bag. She had a reputation as a hyperactive genius that liked to run around the mansion without clothes on. Unfortunatly for him, he knew that to be true about her.
Why make someone that easily distracted already, and then make them a cat? And then a super genius? I mean... she could be working on the cure for cancer... and then get distracted because someone used a laser pointer to circle something on a projector. He thought she'd attacked a teacher for just something like that once....
Don't see how this could get much worse... he thought, instantly regretting the thought. There were plenty of ways this could be worse. Most of them starting with her noticing him... and ending with her pouncing him. Best case scenario; she played with the window more, then jumped out the window again.

After shredding the screen to bits due to her hyperactive playing with it, Ivory paused for just a moment before suddenly turning her head to look at the boy on the bed. Her pupils went crazy, dilating and contracting- slitting and rounding. A muscle in her shoulder twitched, making her stripes jump. She herself jumped a moment after, giving a practically doom-esque pounce.
It was a greeting she usually gave just about anyone- male or female- especially when she was like this. A tumbling off of the bed came next followed by some rolling on the floor before she sprang off of him again, leaping on top of the dresser and wriggling some as if about to pounce on him again.... An instant after, she was sailing through the air to pounce on him again. Her eyes were wide with hyperactive excitement and a wild grin played on her lips.
"Fresh catnip is MUCH better d'en dried!" She exclaimed before rolling off of him and then wriggling on the floor on her back, purring.

Oh dear g... was all he managed to get out, even in thought, before she pounced on him. The moment she jumped on him, he turned a very red color. Not just his face either, from head to toe. She rolled him around the bed, and then knocked him down onto the floor before jumping off of him again. She... is... insane... he thought, his breathing very quick and shallow.
He was a very nervous person by nature. What was currently going on, was giving him asthma. She knocked his clock off of his bureau when she jumped onto it. It was alright... he guessed. It was plastic, it'd live. Him, on the other hand....
She jumped on him again. This time, she rolled him around on the floor for a while, before saying something, and jumping off and wiggling on her back. It was like he'd stumbled onto the scene of a bad porno. Not that he'd ever seen one to know what one of those looked like. The letters p, o, and r one after another were enough to make him start getting nervous. I'm going to find, and kill whoever did this... he thought, rolling under the bed and pulled the blanket down to hopefully make her not be able to see him.
Of course, she would probably be able to find him. What did I do... he thought.

James was gone but the blanket was wiggling, a slight movement behind it which caused her to stop wriggling. Ivory stared at it for a moment before suddenly pouncing at it, ending up half slamming half sliding herself under the bed in the process with her arms out in front of her. Luckily for him, she ended up beside him rather than having slammed into him. With that much force, there would have been some major bruising.
At finding her 'prey' missing, Ivory's eyes widened and she clawed vigorously at the floor as she looked around then her eyes locked onto him, the scratching of the floor stopping almost instantly. The catnip high was finally wearing off, going almost as suddenly as it had come and she was getting her senses back.
"Ah, 'ello James." She greeted, practically flip-moding.

So much for that, he thought as she lunged underneath the bed. He rolled over until he hit the wall, just barely dodging as she slammed into the ground. She started freaking out and scratching the floor he'd been on a few moments before. Please, please, please, please let this stop soon... he thought. It wasn't going to be easy for this to work. Not even remotely.
Madison's going to walk in right now... I just know it. Maybe Rose. Or maybe Alexis'll come in to laugh at me... he thought. Either that, or she was going to enter one of her 'moods' and tear him to pieces. You never knew with her. Why do I get the feeling that this is a fantasy some people have....
"H... h... h... h... hi Ivory," he half muttered. Maybe now that she'd calm down she'd leave him alone. Yeah, like he'd ever be that lucky.

Fear... she could smell it practically pouring out of his pores. not exactly fear but a cousin of it.... Close enough. As he stammered out his greeting, she frowned and drew back slowly so not to cause him to have his heart explode like how it seemed to happen with rabbits. Right now, he looked very much like a terrified rabbit... only not as edible.
"Your 'eart is racing." She commented as she withdrew from under the bed.
Ivory picked up the clock she had knocked off earlier and placed it back in its rightful spot after adjusting it to the right time. She then picked up the shredded screen parts.

Yeah, a high, wild, naked catgirl jumps through my window on a day that I've been alone on since I was nine. If my heart wasn't racing, something would be wrong with me. I'm one of the shyest people in the entire school. Some people probably had fantasies about these kinds of things. He wasn't one of those people. He was nervous around everyone, clothed or not.
"That's... that's alright," he muttered as he crawled out from under the bed. He banged his knee against one of the legs, causing him to bite his lip. Karma seemed to hate him for some reason. Other than kill someone that had attacked him, he hadn't done anything. But, at least in his mind, that was more than enough for it to happen. Karma hated him... just like everyone else.
Maybe it would be easier if I just wasn't around anymore... he thought. He sat back on his bed, looking straight ahead at the clock again. He didn't care about her coming or going at this point. He just wanted the day to hurry up and end. No matter what happened.
